Glenda Beasley left my high school at the usual 3:30 time frame thinking everything would be alright. We had finals, and she was thinking it was time to go home and grade. She was planning to retire at the end of the year, making it an even 30 years teaching business and computer ed.
Around 4:00 she was in traffic behind a school bus full of hyper kids. I'm sure she smiled. She loved kids.
Without a warning, a truck rear ended her, damaging both cars. Glenda Beasley died on impact. She did not suffer.
Today I helped put together her shrine. Kids from all over the school placed objects on, to remember her. Over 200 roses, pictures, and loving poems. Song lyrics from "Anna Sun" and "Same Old Lang Syne" were there. Candles. Chocolates. Teddy bears, and balloons. And so many tears. Some of her phrases are in there, such as "Hugs & Kisses; Mrs. Beasley" and her constant threats to sell magazines, or else we'd have prom in her barn.
We just might this year. Red Solo Cup Prom, in remembrance for this wonderful woman who could make any life better. Mrs. Beasley, we knew each other briefly, and I loved every second. You never let us down, and we love you.
Glenda Beasley; 1945-2012
Sleep well, hugs and kisses, and thanks for the proms,
